The proportion of the Muslim population in Serbia is around 3-5% and the number of mosques is limited according to this population. However, most of the mosques in the country are historical mosques from the Ottoman period and the use of carpets is quite common. Mosque carpets are produced in Serbia. Mosque carpets are generally hand-woven and modern motifs are used as well as traditional Turkish and Islamic motifs. Carpets are usually made of wool or silk and high-quality materials are used. The color of the carpets usually consists of vibrant colors such as red, green, blue and yellow. There is also calligraphy, which is frequently used in Islamic art, on mosque carpets. As a result, mosque carpets are produced in Serbia and hand-woven carpets are generally preferred. The rugs are made of high quality materials and decorated with traditional and modern motifs. The colors of the carpets used in mosques are vibrant and their designs are often made using floral motifs and calligraphy.
